We are looking for an accomplished Senior Solution Architect – Integration & Automation to join the Centre of Excellence of an established South African enterprise software business serving customers internationally.
This is a senior, hands-on architecture and delivery role for someone who can take technical ownership of complex integration projects from initial scoping and solution design through implementation, testing, go-live and production support.
You will work directly with customers to understand their business processes, systems and desired outcomes, define an achievable scope and architect solutions that are robust, scalable and maintainable.
Importantly, this is not a purely conceptual architecture role. You will remain hands-on, building and configuring integrations, guiding Solution Engineers, resolving complex technical challenges and ensuring solutions perform reliably in production.
• Lead customer discovery and scoping workshops, mapping business processes, systems, data flows and requirements.
• Define project scope, deliverables, estimates, dependencies, risks and acceptance criteria.
• Architect and implement integration and automation solutions across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Design workflows, connections, API integrations, data mappings and transformation logic.
• Select appropriate integration patterns for APIs, events, scheduled processing and bulk data movement.
• Build security, monitoring, error handling, retries, duplicate prevention and recovery into solution designs.
• Work hands-on alongside Solution Engineers and provide technical guidance and implementation reviews.
• Resolve complex integration, data, performance and production issues.
• Lead end-to-end integration testing, failure testing and data reconciliation.
• Support UAT and resolve defects before release.
• Own technical readiness for go-live, including deployment, cutover, rollback planning and customer handover.
• Provide post-go-live support and stabilisation of implemented solutions.
• Review customer outcomes and identify performance and solution improvements.
• Develop reusable workflows, architectural patterns and delivery standards for future projects.
• Use AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery while maintaining accuracy, security and accountability.
You will ideally have 6–8+ years of relevant experience in:
• Integration architecture
• Solution architecture or solutions consulting
• Enterprise software implementation
• Complex customer-facing integration projects
You should have a proven track record of personally delivering projects across the full lifecycle:
Scoping → Architecture → Implementation → Testing → Go-Live → Production Support
Strong technical knowledge should include:
REST | SOAP | GraphQL | JSON | XML | SQL | APIs | Data Modelling | Data Transformation
You should also have strong hands-on experience with an iPaaS or comparable enterprise integration platform, together with scripting or API development experience where required.
Strong knowledge of ERP and finance processes is important, ideally with experience in one or more platforms such as:
SAP | Oracle | NetSuite | Sage | Syspro
You should be able to understand the business process behind the technology and translate this into an effective integration architecture.
This is a highly customer-facing position.
You need to be confident:
• Leading technical and discovery workshops
• Presenting architecture to senior stakeholders
• Explaining technical and business trade-offs
• Scoping and estimating projects
• Managing dependencies, risks and scope changes
• Balancing quality, scope and delivery requirements
• Guiding Solution Engineers through complex implementations
Additional experience in the following would be highly valuable:
• iPaaS or integration platform certifications
• ERP certifications
• Finance or HR transformation
• Data migration
• Manufacturing or eCommerce integrations
• Hybrid or multi-cloud architecture
• Integration governance
• Enterprise architecture methodologies
• AI-enabled workflows and automation
• Secure API-based workflows, including authentication, authorisation and auditability
A relevant degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or Finance is preferred, although equivalent professional experience will be considered.
