Are you an exceptional Safari Sales Leader who genuinely knows, loves and lives Africa?
We are headhunting an outstanding Safari Sales Team Leader for an exciting international boutique safari business specialising in bespoke luxury adventure safaris across Southern and East Africa.
This is not a role for someone who simply manages from the sidelines.
We are looking for a hands-on leader, mentor, safari specialist and strong sales professional who knows how to bring out the best in people while still delivering exceptional results personally.
You understand Safari Africa.
You have travelled it. You know the destinations. You understand the lodges, the experiences, the suppliers and the finer details that transform a good itinerary into an unforgettable journey.
Most importantly, you know how to turn a client’s dream into the trip of a lifetime.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced safari sales professional ready to combine people leadership, commercial performance and deep destination expertise.
You will lead and mentor a small team of approximately three to four Safari Sales Consultants, helping them grow, perform and deliver an exceptional standard of service.
You will:
- Set and drive individual and team sales targets
- Mentor, motivate and develop your consultants
- Build a connected, collaborative and high-performing team
- Maintain exceptional client service standards
- Act as the go-to product specialist for destination and supplier knowledge
- Support your team across both Southern and East African safari products
- Help solve challenges and guide complex client requirements
- Drive accountability while creating a positive, energised team culture
But here’s the important part:
- you will still be hands-on.
- You will also manage your own portfolio of clients, working directly with international FIT travellers to create highly personalised, bespoke safari experiences.
- You will take high-level travel ideas and turn them into beautifully considered, detailed itineraries — ensuring every element comes together seamlessly.
Who We Are Looking For
We want to speak to someone who combines leadership ability with genuine safari sales credibility.
You will ideally have:
- At least 4 years’ direct FIT safari sales experience
- At least 1 year of experience supervising or leading a safari sales team
- A proven track record selling bespoke safari experiences directly to international travellers
- Excellent working knowledge of Southern and East Africa
- Extensive personal travel experience across key safari and wilderness destinations
- Strong destination, lodge and supplier knowledge
- The ability to lead, mentor and motivate a small sales team
- Strong commercial instincts and confidence working towards both individual and team targets
- Experience creating and executing complex, tailor-made itineraries
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to remain calm, focused and solutions-driven under pressure
- A warm, outgoing and engaging personality
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- A second European language — particularly German — would be a significant advantage
The Kind of Leader Who Will Thrive Here
- You are a natural team builder.
- You know how to bring different personalities together and create a team that is connected, motivated and genuinely wants to win together.
- You lead with energy, accountability and credibility.
- You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves, support your team and get involved when needed.
- You are someone who:
-
-
- Leads by example
- Genuinely enjoys developing people
- Can coach without micromanaging
- Creates accountability without losing the human touch
- Celebrates success and addresses challenges early
- Builds trust quickly
- Is commercially driven but deeply client-focused
- Takes pride in delivering world-class service
- Works independently with initiative and reliability
- Is highly structured, organised and meticulous about detail
-
6.Your Technology & Professional Skills
7.You should be comfortable working in a modern, technology-enabled environment and ideally bring:
-
-
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Confidence adopting new technology and digital tools
- An affinity for systems that improve efficiency and client experience
- Salesforce experience — a distinct advantage
- A relevant travel or tourism qualification — advantageous, although not essential
-
What Is On Offer?
- Remote / home-office working from South Africa
- Up to R1,035,000 per annum
- International FIT clientele
- Bespoke luxury safari travel across Southern and East Africa
- Leadership of a small specialist sales team
- The opportunity to influence both individual and team performance
- A dynamic, close-knit international environment
- A business passionate about conservation and exceptional African travel experiences
- The opportunity to do meaningful, exciting work in the luxury safari space
Why This Opportunity?
Because this is one of those rare roles where leadership, passion, adventure, people and commercial success come together.
You may already be successful.
You may even be happy where you are.
But if you are an experienced safari sales professional who has been waiting for the opportunity to lead — without losing the part of the job you love most — this could be worth a confidential conversation.
